What is CEREC?
If you have a damaged tooth, you want it fixed fast. You want the pain to go away, and you want to be able to eat, laugh, and smile again without worry. With same-day restorations from CEREC, Dr. Connelly will give you an attractive crown that blends in perfectly with your smile — and he’ll do it in just one office visit.
No More Making Crowns the Old-Fashioned Way
It used to be a real hassle to restore a damaged tooth with a dental crown. That’s because dentists had to create an actual physical impression of the damaged area. This impression was then used to make a mold of the restoration that was sent off to the laboratory.
Before CEREC, patients had to sit in a dental chair while the dentist poured goopy material in their mouth. Once the material hardened, the dentist would use it to make an impression.
After their first appointment, the patient had to wear a temporary crown while waiting for their restoration to return from the lab. Then they’d come back to the dentist’s office a few weeks later to have their crown placed.
Fast and Easy Crowns the CEREC WAY
Our cutting-edge CEREC technology at St. Johns Dental Care allows us to place your crowns in a single appointment. CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration Esthetic Ceramics. Instead of making a physical model of the damaged area, CEREC uses a small intraoral camera to create a digital impression of your mouth.
No more goopy molds! We just send the digital information to our in-office CEREC machine which mills your perfectly-fitting new crown.
Using CEREC, Dr. Connlley is able to provide you with the following benefits:
- Dental crowns in just one visit
- No need for messy physical impressions
- A superior, better-fitting crown
- Less time spent in the dental chair
- No need to wear a temporary crown
- CEREC comes in 17 shades to perfectly match the color of your smile
