After many years of dedicated service to our patients and community, Dr. Mark J. Connelly will be fully retiring from the practice effective 2026.

Dr. Connelly has built a legacy of compassionate care, clinical excellence, and lasting relationships with generations of families.

As he transitions into retirement, the practice will be entrusted to Aubree Capen, DMD, who will assume full leadership and ownership. Dr. Capen is committed to continuing the high standard of personalized, patient-centered care that you have come to expect from our practice.

Dr. Mark J. Connelly graduated from Wayne State University in 1979 with a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree. While working as a pharmacist, he attended The University of Michigan School of Dentistry and graduated in 1983. St. Johns became home for Dr. Connelly in 1984.

Eager to further his knowledge and skills, Dr. Connelly continued his studies with the Academy of General Dentistry, completing over 1100 hours of continuing education in all facets of general dentistry and passing a rigorous 400 question exam. In 2006, Dr. Connelly was awarded a Mastership - an honor less than two percent of general dentists attain.

With an interest in pharmacology and its beneficial effects for his patients, Dr. Connelly attended the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 2002 for IV sedation training. In 2006, he was awarded a Mastership in the College of Sedation in Dentistry.
​
Dr. Connelly spent time in Guadalajara, Mexico and Managua, Nicaragua performing dental implant surgeries. He has a Mastership from the International Congress of Oral Implantologists - the largest dental implant organization dedicated to the advancement and training of professionals in the dental implant field.
​
Dr. Connelly currently lives in Dewitt, Michigan with his wife, a psychologist at MSU. Dr. Connelly and his wife have four children and one granddaughter. His hobbies include reading, watching his son play baseball, and spoiling his granddaughter.
